St Mary's CofE Primary School

Welcome

Sshh... there's a secret place in Islington...

St Mary's Church of England primary school is a place where you meet inquisitive, young learners within a unique setting hidden off Upper Street. We have a rich history and strong community links and provide a wealth of opportunities for all our children, taking full advantage of the many opportunities found in this part of Islington.  Underpinning all that we do is our school vision and commitment to meeting our pupils’ needs in this safe learning environment. Nestled between Upper Street and Essex Road, we are a rare oasis of calm in the heart of Islington.

Our children are curious learners, intelligent thinkers, joyful risk takers, polite servants who support and are supported by one another in faith and friendship.

So, whether it is gardening in our Secret Garden, reading a book in our Family Library, learning in our state of the art Reception setting, studying in one of our newly refurbished classrooms, or coding around the school, our school is ideal for your child.  And you don't have to take my word for it; both inspections highlight our ambitious curriculum and nurture for all (OFSTED March 2023 and Church School Inspection February 2024).

As an inclusive community, we share the responsibility of nurturing our independent learners who, through their experiences here at St Mary's,  flourish and achieve their full potential. In doing this, we are preparing our children for their future roles within this changing world. Our aim is for very child to excel in all aspects of school life and to leave here as lifelong learners.
